Let’s say you find a website you like, you want to “bookmark” it so you can easily find it again, right? Now comes bookmarking sites like Digg and Delicious. You create an account with them and load in your bookmarks. Now, tell your friends and family to do the same so they can share the great websites you have found and you can see theirs; hence social bookmarking. These bookmarking sites have taken the concept one step further. They send emails to their members recommending other websites along with links to those websites. Social Bookmarking Software is designed to automatically create new social bookmarking accounts for you. Normally, when you create social bookmarking accounts, they require you to login to your email and click on a link to verify your account. Bookmarking Software has gotten much more sophisticated so you don’t have to do this anymore.

You just add your email address and the software will verify the account for you with just a click. With gmail accounts you do have to login to your gmail and manually enable POP access so the software can properly retrieve your emails.
