• Commission Junction vs Google Adsense

What is the best way to monitize your website: Commission Junction vs Google Adsense?

Quick answer, Google Adsense. Here’s what recently happened to me that led me to this conclusion.

I have several blogs and websites. One of those websites is quite old, but I lost my main source of income for the site so I joined an affiliate program on Commission Junction (one of several). While checking the report for last month, I noticed my website had sent 20 click throughs to the affiliate program, yet no sale was recorded, I made nothing.

That started me thinking. How do I know they are being honest with me. I know those same click throughs would definitely make me money with Adsense. The website is driving interest and traffic to the benefit of the affiliate with nothing for me. So why am I doing this?

I immediately pulled all the affiliate links off the website and added Adsense. Within a few days, I started making money. In fact, that website is making more money with Adsense than any of my other websites. I started pulling all affiliate programs off my remaining sites and adding Adsense.

There is only one type of program I have seen make money on my websites, that is pay per lead. So while I search for good pay per lead for these websites, I will continue with Adsense. Google comes through again.

  • Two Factors That Motivate Us to Succeed

There are two factors that motivate us, as humans, to succeed. Most people are not really aware of the fact that it takes a strong force to get us to change anything. These two factors are:

    • Fear
    • Desire

    Fear -

Have you ever noticed how it takes hitting rock bottom to get us off our butts and recognize that we need to change? Did we have signs along the way that were obvious we were heading in the wrong direction? Usually. Our fear of change is so strong that it takes a stronger fear such as illness, failure or even death to wake us up and push us to make a change.

    Desire –

Desire is the other intense motivator. When we fall in love the feelings are so intense we are willing to do just about anything to keep those feelings alive. We take risks and do things we would not normally do. Desire can come in many forms – Keeping our kids safe and happy; Keeping the boss happy or at least off our backs; Not disappointing our loved ones – the list goes on and on.

So how do you tap into these two factors and succeed? First, by understanding them. Second, get out of your daily routine, network with peers, visit friends, start by changing small things first. And third, find quiet time for yourself. Get your spirit on board.

When I see a website landing page that goes on and on and on, I get bored and, if I have any interest at all, page down to the bottom to see the cost.

I have often thought these obnoxiously long landing pages cannot be converting well, and Internet Marketers should take heed and cater their pages to a more precise, to the point page. Here are a few Landing Page Tips for obtaining a better conversion rate:

        • Keep it Simple in text and design
        • Lead your visitors to a Call to Action quickly
        • Have only one Call to Action per Landing Page
        • Show Samples of the product
        • Provide Testimonials
        • Keep it as Short and to the point as possible
        • Offer an Incentive – give something away for free if they act now!
        • Test your Landing Page with a tool like Google’s Webmaster Tools

Your website’s success or failure is directly related to how well you create your landing page. Follow the tips above to increase your conversions and don’t forget to test how well it is doing. Testing is critical to Internet success.

      • Distribution of samples for beginners

The new buzz on the internet is all about getting one way links by distributing content to other sites in exchange for backlinks. As with every other Seo Affiliate Program or website promotion technique ever devised, there are plenty of newbie myths about it that can ruin your chance for success before you even start.

Newbie Myth 1 The “Duplicate content penalty.

Some webmasters worry that if the content on their sites is suddenly on hundreds of other sites, search engines will inflict a duplicate content penalty. Why is this concern unjustified

If this were true, every major newspaper and news portal website would now be de indexed from the search engines, since they all carry duplicate content from the news wires such as Reuters and the Associated Press.

Thousands of self promoting internet gurus have proven that distributing content is an effective method of improving search engine rank.

Even more thousands of content websites have proven that republishing this content does not carry any search engine penalty.

True, the first website to publish an article often seems to be favored by search engines, ranking higher for the same content in searches than higher Page Rank pages with the same content. But the duplicate pages do show up in the search engine results, even if lower than the original site. Meanwhile, the reprint content has no effect on the ranking of a site is other pages.

The only duplicate content penalty is for duplication of content across pages of a single website. Meanwhile, there is a sort of copyright theft penalty, whereby someone who copies content without permission can be manually removed from search engine indexes out of respect for the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. But that penalty is only for flagrant theft, not minor mistakes in attributing reprint content.

Newbie Myth 2 The goal is to get in article clearinghouse websites.

There are over 100 popular, high traffic websites that act as clearinghouses for content made available for redistribution. These websites include isnare.com, amazines.com, and goarticles.com.

Many novice content distributors are upset when the article clearinghouse websites, with tens of thousands of articles each with a backlink, pass negligible PageRank. But the point of distributing content to those websites is for other website owners to find your content and put it on their websites not to get a backlink directly from the clearinghouse website though this is sometimes an unexpected bonus.

Plus, to maximize PageRank passing links, you also have to submit articles to website owners individually. It is not a small amount of work. But there is no substitute for a polite, individually crafted email recommending a website owner complement his or her existing articles with one you have written.

Myth 3 Any content will do.

Reality It should be obvious that many website owners, jealous of their link popularity, will only republish exceptionally high  quality content. For articles, this means a unique point of view and solid information that cannot be found just anywhere, ideally presented in compelling language in a web optimized format by a professional published writer. You can conduct a content distribution campaign with bad content, but you will be handicapping yourself from the start.

Myth 4 Distributing content is easy. Just hit send

Reality – a Content distribution campaign requires skillful planning to target publisher websites effectively.

You must identify the categories of websites most likely to republish your articles. These categories range from the very broad, such as internet, business, and family, and can go as narrow as family friendly internet businesses.

It is a careful balance  you need to make your target category narrowly relevant to maximize the value of the link and your chances of getting your article accepted for publication. But if you target too narrow a category, you will lower the maximum number of links you can hope to get.

      • The value of keywords

Consider including keyword phrases in the URLs or domain names of your websites.

Select specific keywords that have little competition, otherwise highly competitive keywords reduces your chances of being spotted in top search engine results. For all web pages of your site use different page titles with different keywords.

The importance of these keyword tools can be known by the fact that these are used by web masters to target specific keywords for getting more web traffic.

If your website is optimized more than your competitors, then surely you can gain visibility and be on the top rank of the search engines such as MSN, Yahoo and Google. Your website will easily be seen and visited by internet users and you will definitely gain more customers and earn lots of profits than your competitors.

It is better to make use of a vivid title with text that can be understood by readers and by making vivid or descriptive title can help you in making users and visitors to be interested to your website. Better to use the same words that you put on your header which you also use in your title page.

A clean code is scanable and the search engine bots will reach to the text (their food) faster than when scanning a table-based website. Try to eliminate unnecessary tables from your design and you already have more chances to rank well in the SERPs

With the unpredictable changes on how search engines rank websites, they have also become stringent in indexing and crawling a website. In theory, the higher the keyword density on one’s website, the higher chances of landing on the first page of search engine results.

They judge websites on keywords utility and accordingly index websites in its rankings. So, it becomes an important task to select only relevant and logical keywords that need to be optimized for enjoying a great customer reaction.

Free tools are great, but just for practicing or for small blogs located in niches with low competition where you wouldn’t need that much effort put into keyword marketing research.

Anyone interested in generating an income from their website needs to be aware of the importance of keywords and Seo or search engine optimization which is heavily dependent on keywords.

If the keyword research had been performed to the acceptable standard, and then those keywords had been implemented into the website content and anchor text of incoming links then this wouldn’t be an issue

You have limits on the number of the results obtained, or limits on filtering of your researched results and so on. Because of that I have upgraded by keyword research

      • Small Business Internet Marketing: It is up to the World Wide Web

Small business Internet marketing can seem like a labyrinth to a small business owner new to the term. There is so much information available–much of it conflicting–that it’s easy to get lost and begin to suffer from information overload.

Here are a few ways small business owners can get started marketing their business on line.

        * Blogging. A blog is simply a website which is frequently updated. While blogs used to be considered more personal, and resembled on line diaries more than websites, recently businesses have been starting to blog as a way of staying in contact with their customers. Even better than that, Google loves a blog. The more you update your site, the more the Google bots will visit, and the more the Google bots visit, the better chance you have of getting your business’s site found.

        * SEO or search engine optimization, is a huge topic. SEO simply means setting up your site to be friendly to the search engines by giving them the information they need in the places they expect to find it. Using title tags and meta description tags, clearly defining your keywords, and getting other sites to link back to your site are all a part of basic SEO.

        * Pay Per Click. Pay per click is a form of advertising where the advertiser buys space through an auction style system, and only pays when someone clicks on their ad. The results that you see at the very top of a search results page in Google are often pay per click ads, as are the smaller (and more obvious) ads off to the right of the page. Pay per click is very efficient at driving traffic to your site, but can be risky as well. You’d do well to hire a specialist in this area rather than plunge in by yourself.

        * Article marketing. Whether you’re in the business of selling flowers or washing machines, chances are you have knowledge that someone wants. By giving this knowledge away on sites like EzineArticles.com or GoArticles.com in exchange for a link or two back to your site, you can gain greater exposure for your business, and bring visitors in who would otherwise never have noticed you.

        * Social Networking. Social networking is word of mouth advertising for the digital age. Instead of Aunt Suzy calling up Cousin Ida to ask who she hired to install the new windows, @AuntSuzy is posting questions about window installs on Twitter and Facebook. If your business is installing windows you’d be well advised to monitor those Twitter conversations. Help out @AuntSuzy with 140 characters of advice about choosing windows and who do you think she’ll be recommending to her friends when they need windows?

        * Forum posting. Forums are just another form of social networking, except the conversation is generally more focused around a particular topic. No matter what business you’re in, there is a forum dedicated to it. Search Google for your topic Forum and you’ll find them. Get registered, start conversing, and as your reputation grows so will your business.

As you can see, small business Internet marketing can seem like a maze. There is so much information available – mostly in conflict – that ’s easy to get lost and begin to suffer from information overload. For help with your Internet Marketing Campaign, Contact Us.
